The Story of MedWish

Founded in 1993, MedWish International is a nonprofit organization that saves lives and the environment by repurposing surplus medical supplies and equipment to provide humanitarian aid to people in need.

Our Approach

In 2021, MedWish diverted more than 600,000 lbs. of medical surplus from landfills and distributed 431,000 lbs. of supplies and equipment. These efforts impacted nearly 2 million people across the world.

The large-scale effort MedWish undertakes to deliver urgently needed medical equipment and supplies is built on an infrastructure of incredible supporters: health care systems, logistics partners, volunteers, and stakeholders.

Last Friday, MedWish facilitated a total of 26 pick-ups by various local giving recipient organizations. Items like walking sticks, umbrellas, water bottles, resistance bands, running belts, towels and more were distributed, diverting more than 6,000 pounds of supplies from landfills. Pictured here are just a few of the organizations that received their orders that day.

In February, we shared that MedWish sent another container to Pakistan with APPNA. We recently received confirmation of that 18,000 pound container being received and unloaded.
